A Gorilla Story: Told by David Attenborough

2026 · James Reed, Callum Webster · Nature documentary

Acceptable. Age: 8+. A Catholic review of this movie for parents.

Our review

A gentle, beautiful nature film about a gorilla family and the old man who has loved them for almost fifty years. It shows loyalty, family and respect for God's creatures, and the conservation story is hopeful. God is never named. The one reservation is for small children: bloody fights between males and a baby gorilla's death.

For parents

Good for kids about 8 and up, as Common Sense Media says. Sensitive younger children may be upset by the bloody fights and the baby gorilla's death. Ask: how do the gorillas care for their young? Why does God ask us to look after His creatures?
