Billy and Blaze

Our review
A boy is given a pony and takes good care of him. That is the story, and small children love it. Billy is kind to animals, grateful for his gift, and steady in the saddle. Anderson's pencil drawings are the real draw. One reservation: everything comes easily to Billy. Nothing here teaches a child how to lose or wait.
For parents
Read aloud from 3 or 4. Independent reading from about 6 or 7. A dog is caught in a trap for a page and is freed. Ask how Billy shows he is thankful for Blaze. Ask what it means to take care of something God made.
