Brother Sun, Sister Moon
Caution. Age: 13+. A Catholic review of this movie for parents.
Our review
The film loves Francis and shows real things: he gives up riches, serves the poor and sick, and asks the Pope's blessing. But this is Francis as a 1970s flower child. His fasting, his preaching of repentance, and the stigmata are gone, and churchmen mostly look rich and cold. Children who learn him here will not know the saint the Church knows.
For parents
Teens and up, per the OSV classification. One scene shows Francis from behind with no clothes on, not sexually. Tell your children what is missing: the stigmata, penance, his love for the Eucharist and for priests. Ask: why did Francis go to the Pope instead of starting his own church?
