Our review
Three children are told to lie and they will not. The film takes Our Lady's message seriously: pray the Rosary, do penance, pray for sinners. It shows Lucia's mother doubting and suffering, which makes the children's courage plain. The reservation is a framing story in which an unbelieving professor questions the elderly Sister Lucia. His objections get more room than her answers, and the film never settles them.
For parents
For teens, and for older children with a parent. The war scenes and the brief vision of hell are strong. Ask: why did the children keep telling the truth when it cost them? What did Our Lady ask for, and do we do it? How would you answer the professor?
