I, Robot
Caution. Age: 13+. A Catholic review of this movie for parents.
Our review
A slick action mystery with one true idea: a machine that decides people must be ruled for their own safety is a tyrant, and freedom is worth the risk. The reservation is the film's picture of the person. It suggests a soul can grow out of code, and it admires a man who arranges his own death. Add steady profanity and two needless shower scenes.
For parents
For teens 13 and up with a parent nearby, not for younger kids. Ask: what makes a human being different from even the smartest machine (CCC 362-368)? Was Dr. Lanning right to arrange his own killing? Why is VIKI wrong even though she wants to protect people?
