Little House on the Prairie
Acceptable with guidance. Age: 13+. A Catholic review of this show for parents.
Our review
A warm, handsome family drama about hard work, keeping your word and loving your own. The town builds a church, hymns are sung and the family keeps a Nativity scene. Reservations: a veteran's suicide is strongly implied, a doctor courts a woman before his divorce is final, and the drinking storyline is heavy for small children. Worth watching together.
For parents
Lumen shows 13 and up because Rotten Tomatoes lists TV-14; Common Sense Media says 10+. Watch together. Preview episode 4, where Pa's brother walks into a lake. Tell your kids every life is a gift from God, and despair can always be met with help. Ask: how did the Ingalls keep their promises? How did they treat neighbors who were different?
