Our review
Few films teach the moral life this plainly. A conscience you can ignore, a lie that grows on your face, a pleasure island that turns boys into beasts, and a father who never stops searching. Pinocchio earns nothing on his own; the Fairy gives him more than he deserves. That is grace in a fairy tale. The scares are real, so know your child.
For parents
Best from about six; the donkey transformation and Monstro frighten many younger children. Ask: why does Jiminy sound quieter each time Pinocchio ignores him? Conscience is a voice we must train and obey (CCC 1776-1778). Why does Geppetto keep looking for a son who ran away?
