Our review
Don Pietro is one of the great priests on film. He hides the hunted, refuses to betray them, and dies with the boys of his parish watching. The film shows a pastor laying down his life for his flock. The reservation is weight: a man is tortured to death, a mother is shot, and the villains' vices include drugs and an implied lesbian seduction.
For parents
For adults, and for older teens only at a parent's judgment. The torture is hard to watch. Ask: why does Don Pietro help a Communist? Is everyone who fights for justice walking with God, as he says? What gave him the strength to die well?
