Our review
At its heart this is a story of a man rising from the wreck of drink and grief to lay down his life for a child he has never met. That is real charity, and his sobriety is shown as a hard-won good. The reservation is the violence: bloody, frequent, and staged so the audience cheers the cruelest kills.
For parents
For older teens and adults. The Angel Guild says 16 and up, and that fits the bloody fights. Ask: what did Hank have to give up to become a better man? Is it right to enjoy watching an enemy suffer? Talk about the difference between defending a child and taking pleasure in killing.
