Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom
Not recommended. A Catholic review of this movie for parents.
Our review
Aardman's wordless comedy is funny, gentle and full of good things: a loyal dog who masters his fear to save his master, a sheep who makes amends for his mistake, and a flock that sticks together. The reservation is not small. A wedding of two brides runs through the film as a background joke shown as ordinary, in a movie made for the youngest viewers.
For parents
The content is mild: slapstick, gross-out jokes, Halloween costumes and one 'OMG' text. The problem is the two brides, shown as a normal couple. If your child asks to see it, say first that marriage is one man and one woman (CCC 1601). Ask: how did Bitzer love the Farmer? How did Shaun make amends?
