Slow Horses
Caution. Age: 18+. A Catholic review of this show for parents.
Our review
A brilliantly made spy thriller about failures who still do their duty, and that loyalty is its one real good. But the show soaks in contempt: a boss who wins laughs by humiliating his staff and taunting a recovering alcoholic, relentless f-words, and Jesus' name used as a curse again and again. Characters also mock the crucifixion for laughs. Excellent craft does not make it good for the soul.
For parents
Adults only. TV-MA, and Common Sense Media says 16 and up. If a teen is asking, the answer is no: the language alone rules it out. Adults who watch should ask: why is cruelty funny here? What does Catherine's sobriety cost her in that office? What does loyalty look like without charity?
