A sweet preschool show about a kind, brave princess at a school for royal magic. Sofia helps others, owns her mistakes and tries again, and her friends are good company. The magic is fairy-tale magic from an amulet, not occult practice, but this season makes learning magic the point of school. Lumen has only one content review so far, so this verdict is provisional.
For parents
Fine for preschoolers from age three. Expect mild adventure, a few put-downs from a snobbish prince, and many Disney princess cameos. Tell little ones that magic is make-believe in stories, and real help comes from God and good friends. Ask: how did Sofia help a friend today?
