This is a true account of a seminarian who kept the faith inside Hitler's army and became a priest against every obstacle. Prayer, the Eucharist and Providence drive every chapter. Teens see fidelity under real pressure. The reservation is war content, a Nazi plan to tempt seminarians with young women, and a few moments where his methods are rough.
For parents
Independent reading from 14 or 15. Too heavy for a family read-aloud with younger children. Good Books for Catholic Kids warns parents about the seduction plot, which is not explicit. Ask how Goldmann stayed Catholic when his country demanded otherwise. Ask whether every means he used to reach the sacraments was right.
