Up opens with one of the finest portraits of marriage in animation. Carl and Ellie keep their vows faithfully until death parts them. Then Carl learns that love does not end at the grave; it sends you back to the living. He lets go of the house to save a boy. One reservation: the wordless miscarriage scene and Ellie's death will prompt questions from small children.
