Wee Gillis

Recommended. Age: 7+. A Catholic review of this book for parents.

Our review

Wee Gillis is pulled between two families who each want him for their own way of life. He learns both trades, herding and stalking, before he finds the gift that is his alone, the bagpipes. Learning from his elders comes first and the calling comes after. The one reservation is the ending, which a child could hear as 'just be yourself.'

For parents
